Undergraduate and Graduate Degree Options in Political Science

The Department of Political Science offers courses leading to Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Arts Honours (BA Hons), and a BA degree with a Minor in Political Science at the undergraduate level. The Department also offers the option of a Master of Arts (MA) degree at the graduate level.

If students wish to concentrate on Political Science as an important area of study in their overall Bachelor of Arts degree programs, they can declare Political Science as either a major or minor. A student who majors in Political Science makes it the primary concentration for his or her degree, and may also wish to pursue an Honours degree. A student who minors in Political Science pursues it as an area of study, which complements a major in another discipline, such as History, Economics, Languages or Sociology.

Careers

A political science degree opens the door to a large variety of potential careers. These include law, public service, teaching, academia, corporate employment, foreign service and employment with interest groups, polling organizations, media, advocacy organizations, political parties and legislatures. More importantly, the study of political science in invaluable in helping the student become a full participant in society.
