Geography
Geography is the study of environmental phenomena in their locational context. This includes aspects of both the human and physical environment, such as settlement, population, economy, topography, climate, vegetation, and water. The Geography Department offers a Bachelor of Arts program through the Faculty of Arts, as well as a Bachelor of Science through the Faculty of Science.
Students who major in geography, particularly those with graduate or specialized qualifications, may go on to related careers in government or private corporations in such areas as environmental and land use planning, parks and recreation, resource management, water use, and meteorology. In addition, skills acquired in the geography major, such as expertise in statistical analysis, cartography, computer programming, geographic information systems, and remote sensing are in demand with such organizations.

Thraves, B., Lewry, M.L., Dale, J. E, and Schlichtmann, H. eds. (2007) Saskatchewan: Geographic Perspectives (Regina: CPRC)
This book provides the first broadly based publication on the geography of Saskatchewan since 1981. Four major sections cover the physical background, cultural and historical geography, demographic and social geography, and economic geography. It represents the effort of more than forty scholars and examines the past, present and future of Saskatchewan’s people, land and economy. The book will provide a valuable resource that complements and updates the Atlas of Saskatchewan and will be used as text for an on-line, distance-learning course that is currently under development.
