Rozzet Jurdi is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Social Studies. She teaches primarily Research Methods (undergraduate and graduate); Statistics (basic and advanced); Philosophy of Science (honours and graduate); Families (undergraduate); and Intro to Sociology (undergraduate). She has a strong publication and research track record in contraceptive behaviour, sexuality, and maternal, reproductive and child health care, with publications in Birth: Issues in Perinatal Care, Health Policy and Planning, Health Policy, Journal of Biosocial Science, International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Health Care for Women International, Eastern Mediterranean Health Journal (WHO publication), Canadian Studies in Population, Journal of Comparative Family Studies and Migration Letters. Her work also appears in book chapters, policy briefs and working papers. She has also presented her work in several national and international conferences and workshops. Her current research program, with a focus on maternal and child health, examines levels, causes and consequences of unintended reproduction in twenty developing countries to strengthen existing knowledge and allow the planning and provision of more appropriate services to improve the health of mothers and children by enabling couples meet their reproductive goals. She is also involved in a collaborative research project on academic attitudes and behaviours and campus life of undergraduate students at the U of R.
