DR. HENRY CHOW is a Professor and Graduate Program Co-ordinator in the Department of Sociology and Social Studies. Professor Chow obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in 1997. He joined the University of Regina in 1999 as an assistant professor, having previously taught at Trent University in Ontario (1996) and the University of Calgary in Alberta (1997-99). In 2002, he was promoted to associate professor with tenure and became a full professor in 2010. From 1999-2011, he also served as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Sociology at Calgary.
His primary teaching and research interests are in the areas of criminology and criminal justice, immigration and multiculturalism, race & ethnic relations, social gerontology, the sociology of education, the sociology of religion, and survey research methods. He has recently undertaken a province-wide survey of post-secondary students' attitudes toward immigration and perceptions of multiculturalism. His current projects include a survey of university students' views on prostitutes/prostitution and civic engagement/political participation in Regina and an edited book on the Chinese in western Canada.
