DR. DAVE BROAD is a Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology and Social Studies at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan. He studies work and the labour market and problems of world development and underdevelopment, and has published and presented widely on these subjects. His research includes analysis of the links between global economic restructuring and the casualization of labour, and related issues of poverty and social welfare. He has a particular interest in social change and development in Latin America.

Dr. Broad has served as Director of the Social Policy Research Unit (SPR) at he University of Regina, and has been principal investigator on a number of research grants. He has organized conference sessions for the annual Congress of Humanities and Social Sciences, and is a frequent presenter. His current research interest is in manufacturing job loss and its impact on workers, their families and social welfare.
