Dan Holbrow’s work has focused on themes of morality, economy, historical memory, and materiality. He has explored the relation between agricultural practices and political organization in precolonial Bali, and, more recently, the ontological implications of preservation practices at Borobudur, Java. His current interests include the role of moral evaluations of economic practices in colonialism in West Java, and the perception and negotiation of moral and economic imperatives in rural Saskatchewan.
Dan has taught ANTH 100 (Introduction to Anthropology), ANTH 203 (Social Organization), ANTH 230 (Ethnography of Southeast Asia), and ANTH 307 (Anthropology of Ritual).
