Student Appeals
Appeals of Faculty of Arts decisions concerning undergraduate students in the matters of academic probation, requirements to discontinue, re-admissions, deferrals, retroactive withdrawals, and requests to repeat courses for the second time are heard by the Faculty's Undergraduate Student Appeals Committee. Contact Pam Splett in the Arts Student Services Office (585.4137) to have your case put on the agenda for the next Committee meeting (during the fall and winter months the committee meets monthly).
Decisions of the Undergraduate Student Appeals Committee may be appealed to the Council Committee on Student Appeals, which is coordinated by the University Secretary (a member of the President's Office).
Appeals of grading decisions should go in the first place to the instructor and then, if necessary, to the department or program head (or the Associate Dean Undergraduate in cases where the instructor is also the head).
Appeals of decisions made by the Associate Dean (Undergraduate) in matters of academic misconduct are heard by the Council Discipline Committee, which is coordinated by the University Secretary (a member of the President's Office).
