New Students
Welcome to the Faculty of Arts! We're very pleased you chose us.
Your next step will be to select classes for your first semester and then get yourself registered in those classes. We have advisors to help you through this process. (In fact you won't be able to register for classes until you've talked with an advisor.) For first-time students we usually set up group-advising sessions. You'll meet together with about 30 other students to get an overview of the Faculty's academic program requirements and regulations, learn how to use UR Self Service to build your course schedule for the upcoming semester and register for courses, and be introduced to the many student services available on campus. You'll also receive free printed copies of the Undergraduate Calendar and Course Catalogue (an online, searchable version of which is available here). Group advising sessions usually last about two hours.
Please call the Arts Student Services Office at 306.585.4137 or email us at arts.studentservices@uregina.ca as soon as possible to book yourself into a group-advising session. If you live more than 300 kms. from Regina you can request a phone appointment instead.
Another great way to get ready for your studies in the Faculty of Arts is to attend the University's Orientation Day, which is held during the week before classes begin in the Fall semester. You (and your parents if they'd like to come too) will be given a tour of the campus, get a sense of what it's like be a student at the University of Regina, and meet faculty members and students working in your area(s) of interest.
