Research and Teaching Interests
Cindy MacKenzie has published A Concordance to the Letters of Emily Dickinson (Colorado, 2000) and written articles and book chapters on Emily Dickinson in The Emily Dickinson Journal (2002) and The Emily Dickinson Bulletin (1999, 2003). She also has a book chapter in Writing Addiction: Towards a Poetics of Desire and Its Others(2004). She is an active member of the Emily Dickinson International Society and has served on its Board since 2003. She attends the society’s annual events and has given papers and chaired sessions for more than fifteen years. She also attends and gives papers at the annual American Literature Association. She will be visiting scholar at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst for the winters of 2006 and 2007.
Her current projects are co-editing a collection of essays on Dickinson’s letters co-editing a collection of essays on the healing power of Dickinson’s work, and writing a book for Kent State University Press on Dickinson’s use of rhetorical devices titled “I Dwell in Possibility:” Emily Dickinson’s House of Language.
MacKenzie’s interests are poetry and poetics, contemporary Canadian and American women poets, nineteenth-century American literature, and Popular Culture. She writes reviews regularly in Books in Canada.
