I have recently completed my Masters Degree in Islamic and Near Eastern Studies at Washington University in St. Louis, and I plan to enter a doctoral program in Canada in the near future. My past research interests include: the comparative study of "religious fundamentalism"; modernist Islamic thought in the age of colonialism; and, the history of Jews in Islamic lands. Presently I am engaged with the history of science in the medieval Islamic world, and while focusing on the field of astronomy particularly, I am exploring themes such as the role of religion in the scientific enterprise, cross-cultural exchange and the porous nature of civilizational boundaries, and the inadequacies of persisting historical narratives.
